The fertility of its land, which made it the breadbasket of the growing empire, resulted in the Urubamba valley being sacred to the Incas. During this excursion, guests will navigate the
Wilcamayo, as the river was called during Inca times (meaning sacred in Quechua, the ancient language of the Andes), and see Inca ruins that lay on the banks of the river and centuries-old terraces that prove how the ancient Andeans “tamed” the difficult geography through the development of outstanding agricultural techniques. After a 3-hour dose of adrenaline, guests will be treated to gourmet picnic-lunch.
