Passengers will be taken to Lima’s international airport, where they will board a 1-hour
flight to Ica. In Ica, they will change into smaller aircraft to fly over the Nazca lines. After the flight, guests will visit the Ica Regional Museum.
The Nazca Lines are gigantic geoglyphs located 450 kms. (280 miles) south of Lima. Its authors were the Nazca culture, who draws the figures between 200 BCE and 700 CE. There are hundreds of figures, ranging in complexity and size from simple lines to stylized whales, human hands, spider and different kinds of birds, and
cannot be recognized as coherent figures except from the
air. Since the Nazca people never saw their work from the air, there are many theories about their origin and the reasons for the Nazcas for doing them. The most accepted theory is that the lines were drawn for their Gods to see. The Ica Regional Museum houses very vivid collection of remains found in the area from several cultural groups that dominated the region, long before Inca domination. Lunch is served at Las Dunas Hotel and Resort, which is used as headquarters during the excursion due to its closeness to the Ica airport.
