Lima was founded by conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535. During the colonial times, Lima was the most important city in the Viceroyalty of Peru, an area that encompassed most of Spain's possessions in South America. This tour will expose passengers to
Lima’s pre-Hispanic and colonial legacy. The tour will begin at the Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial and administrative centre for the Lima’s, a pre-Inca culture that dates back to the year 200 AD. The next stop will be the
San Francisco convent, built in the 17th century. For many, the favorite part of the visit is the catacombs, initially built as a burial ground, and which are said to connect with catacombs below
Lima’s cathedral. Our last stop will be the
Inquisition Museum: the Spanish Inquisition was a religious / political body responsible for combating heresy, of spread use in Spain and brought to its colonies. During the visit guests will see the cells where prisoners were kept in and the punishment methods used.
