La Merced Convent

La Merced Convent is one of the best places in Cuzco to hold a gala dinner. This Baroque church was built in the 17th century. The sacristy holds its most precious treasure: an impressive 50 lb., 3 feet high gold and gemstones-encrusted monstrance, crowned with one large mermaid shaped pearl, considered to be the second largest in the world. Dinner event takes place in a room that used to be the “Salon Capitular” (Pact or Agreement Room), where the monks met with the prior to go over Catholicism sacred scriptures and discuss matters about the convent and its inhabitants. . The main event consists of a gourmet, 3-course dinner, complemented by a fine selection of Peru’s best wines. Dinner is preceded by the “Andean Gods” show, an impressive performance that narrates how the ancient Incas related to their deities.
